Tailgating Policy Tailgating Policy

Designed to provide an additional venue for positive engagement and community support of the University's Athletics Program, the University of La Verne Tailgate Policy was developed by a dedicated team of University employees, and was accepted by the President's Executive Council, the Board of Trustees, and the City of La Verne. The policy will be in effect for all University of La Verne home football, baseball, softball and soccer games and will be enforced by Campus Safety.

Parking

  1. Tailgate Parking is allowed in Lot A, or in either of the two lots at Campus West, within the designated area (click on the link below for maps).
  2. Any vehicle which has parked in the Tailgating Section may not re-position, relocate or leave until the Tailgating area has been shut down at the scheduled start of the contest.
  3. Every vehicle using the Tailgating area must be operated by a person 21 years or older.
  4. All vehicles must be parked within a marked stall. Absolutely no RV motor homes or trailers of any kind will be allowed in the area.
  5. There is no guarantee of any number of spaces for any number of vehicles. When all marked spaces have been taken, the lot is deemed closed for any additional vehicle access.
  6. There are no other authorized Tailgating areas on or adjacent to the La Verne Campus.
  7. The vehicle travel lane shall remain unobstructed at all times for Public Safety responses.
Correct Tailgate Set-UpIncorrect Tailgate Set-up
To properly set up your tailgate, please keep all tables, chairs, coolers, barbeques, etc within the parking stall (s) in your party. You may NOT take up extra parking stalls for your equipment. The diagram below illustrates the correct way to set up your tailgate.We appreciate your cooperation so that we may provide football fans with a safe and enjoyable tailgate experience.

 

Alcohol

  1. All provisions, terms and conditions of the University of La Verne Alcohol Permit Policy must be followed at any tailgating event. Only beer and wine may be consumed at any event on campus.
  2. Beer and wine may be consumed only in the Tailgating Area, Parking Lot "A" or in either of the Campus West Parking Lots, (click the link below for maps). This area will be marked by signs and cordoned off on game day.
  3. Only persons 21 years or older may possess or consume beer and wine. All persons must provide identification as proof of required age when requested by Campus Safety Officers, who will be assigned to the area.
  4. No glass beverage containers are allowed in the area and beer and wine containers are not to be visible at any time.
  5. Beer and wine may only be consumed within the Tailgating area for 2 hours prior to the scheduled start time of the game. (e.g., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.).
  6. Beer and wine consumption must end at the scheduled start time of the game.
  7. Beer and wine may only be consumed by those individuals 21 years of age and older.
  8. The following "common source alcohol" containers are prohibited: Kegs, beer bongs, party balls, etc.
  9. State laws/regulations, and University policies regarding the consumption of alcohol still apply, including those against public drunkenness
  10. Persons who demonstrate public drunkenness will be denied access into any University of La Verne event.
  11. No beer and wine is permitted inside any athletic venue at any time, as per SCIAC regulations

Foods, Cooking, Conduct

  1. LP-gas cooking appliances shall be UL listed and approved for use. LP-gas cylinders shall be secured in an upright position to keep from falling and positioned to prevent impact from vehicle traffic. All cooking must be within the assigned space of the tailgating area
  2. Portable generators are not permitted.
  3. A minimum class 2A-10B: C fire extinguisher with a current service tag is required at each cooking area.
  4. No soliciting or selling of any items of any form is permitted.
  5. On-site catering in the Tailgating area is prohibited.
  6. Only propane gas grills (5 gallon or smaller) are permitted.
  7. All cooking by products, oils, grease and debris are the responsibility of the attendee(s) and shall not be discarded onto any grounds or drain systems.
  8. All standard trash items shall be disposed of into plastic trash bags prior to being placed into a University trash can.
  9. The University of La Verne reserves the right to request an individual(s) or group(s) to stop inappropriate and/or unsafe behavior and remove said individual(s) from University property at any time. The University of La Verne Campus Safety Officers and/or University Administrators reserve the right to determine what is deemed inappropriate or unsafe behavior.
